Osun APC Calls for Immediate Dismissal of SSG Teslim Igbalaiye After Murder Suspect Arrested at His Residence
The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to remove Secretary to the State Government Teslim Igbalaiye following the arrest of a wanted murder suspect at the official’s residence.
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, the council’s media and publicity head, Remi Omowaiye, alleged that the Adeleke administration is trying to interfere with the police investigation.
Omowaiye warned that any attempt to shield those detained would undermine the rule of law and called on citizens to pressure the governor to let justice take its course.
He stated, “No government that truly desires peace and security should be seen obstructing lawful inquiries or protecting individuals from accountability.”
“If Governor Adeleke is not abetting criminality in Osun, he must immediately dismiss Alhaji Teslim Igbalaiye, in whose home a wanted murderer was apprehended yesterday,” Omowaiye added.
He urged the governor to rise above political pettiness, abandon his desperation for a second term, and fully cooperate with law‑enforcement agencies so the investigation can proceed unhindered.
Omowaiye also praised the Osun State Police Command and the Inspector‑General’s Special Squad for their professionalism and dedication to combating crime in the state.
In response, Jamiu Olawumi, Director of Strategic Communication for the Imole Campaign Council, rejected the APC’s demand, describing the allegations as politically motivated attempts to tarnish the SSG’s reputation.
Olawumi remarked, “Governance is about service, people and responsibility. As governor, Adeleke is entitled to hear opinions, but facts remain inviolable.”
He continued, “We expect the governor to recognise the quality of his Secretary to the State Government—a lawyer and a devoted son of Osogbo. These insinuations cannot match his stature, political relevance or erase his track record.”
Olawumi suggested that the criticism originates from individuals who lack comparable achievements and therefore resist excellence in public service.
Recall that police operatives raided Igbalaiye’s residence in Osogbo on Wednesday, arresting him. He was released by the Osun State Police Command on Thursday, while investigations into the circumstances of the arrest continue.
