Festus Keyamo Declares 2027 Election a Coronation for Tinubu
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, stated that President Bola Tinubu will secure a convincing victory in the 2027 presidential election for a second term.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme, Keyamo expressed confidence that Nigerians will vote overwhelmingly for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He dismissed the potential challenges posed by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Atiku Abubakar as inconsequential.
According to Keyamo, the APC’s success in the off‑season governorship elections of 2026 will be repeated in the 2027 general elections.
“I’m looking around between you and me, where would Peter Obi’s votes come from? I can’t see,” he said. “I want to make a profound statement, not out of arrogance or overconfidence, but out of pure demographic calculation. The 2027 elections is a coronation, not an election,” Keyamo declared.
In related news, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar urged President Tinubu to concentrate on addressing what he described as the failures of his administration rather than engaging in political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 polls.
Atiku, reacting to Tinubu’s recent comment that he would “wrestle his opponents to the finish,” labelled the remark “the lamentation of a drowning man” and accused the President of trying to divert attention from an “abysmal record in office.”
He noted it was troubling that the President made the statement in response to an appeal by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria for credible, transparent and peaceful elections.
