Lagos Has Lacked a People‑First Government for 20 Years, Says ADC Candidate Rhodes‑Vivour
The Lagos State African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes‑Vivour, stated that the state has not had a government that truly puts its people first over the last twenty years.
He emphasised that the upcoming 2027 election should be grounded in reality, not in propaganda or false narratives. According to Rhodes‑Vivour, genuine impact is felt by citizens and does not need publicity stunts.
“Our Lagos has never lacked the potential, geography, or human capacity to rank among Africa’s greatest cities,” he wrote. “What it has lacked in the last two decades is a government that consistently prioritises its residents.”
He outlined what a people‑first administration would deliver:
- Cleaner air for all Lagosians.
- Streets free of refuse mountains.
- Roads that remain usable during the rainy season.
- Emergency services that save every life, regardless of income.
- Schools that equip children for today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities.
- A transport system that respects commuters’ time.
- Tax policies that work for the people, not against them.
Rhodes‑Vivour concluded by urging competence over theatrics, service over slogans, and tangible results over myth‑making. He believes that making life easier for Lagosians should be the core duty of any government.
