The factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, Christopher Imumolen, has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 presidential race and declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re‑election bid.
He explained that preserving national unity, ensuring political stability and continuing national development motivated his decision to step aside.
The unity, stability and continued progress of Nigeria must take precedence over personal political ambition.

Imumolen listed ten reasons for backing Tinubu, highlighting shared views on economic reforms, education, industrialisation, youth empowerment and national development.
He praised Tinubu’s leadership ability, political experience and commitment to progressive governance, noting the President’s skill in identifying and empowering talented individuals while promoting inclusive leadership.
The Accord chieftain expressed confidence that the administration’s economic and fiscal reforms would set Nigeria on a path to sustainable growth, despite current hardships faced by many citizens.
He stressed that continuity in governance and consistent policy implementation are vital for strengthening public institutions and attracting investment, which could spur job creation and accelerate national development.
Imumolen reiterated that his political involvement has always been driven by a desire to serve Nigeria rather than merely occupy public office.
My aspiration has always been to serve Nigeria and not merely to occupy public office. Whenever the national interest is better served through unity and strategic collaboration, I will always choose Nigeria above personal political ambition.

He described his withdrawal and endorsement as a deliberate sacrifice made in the country’s best interest, urging Accord Party members, supporters, professionals and all Nigerians to back Tinubu’s re‑election campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.
Imumolen added that collaborating with the President offers a better chance to advance the policies and development goals he hoped to pursue through his own presidential campaign.
