Kwankwasiyya Movement Issues Warning Against Lies
The Kwankwasiyya Movement has declared it will not tolerate false statements against its leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The movement’s spokesperson, Mohammed, noted that while democratic discourse permits differing opinions, there must be a clear line between constructive criticism and deliberate falsehood.
“We welcome criticism, but we will not accept lies,” the statement read, acknowledging that political figures are subject to scrutiny in a democracy.
It cautioned against the dissemination of what it described as malicious allegations intended to deceive the public, harm reputations, stir hatred or create division.
The statement emphasized the distinction between legitimate political critique and the purposeful spread of falsehoods designed to mislead and damage.
The group highlighted Senator Kwankwaso’s long record of public service, noting his consistent tolerance and maturity when faced with criticism and opposition.
“Neither Senator Kwankwaso nor the Kwankwasiyya Movement fears criticism or political opposition,” the statement asserted.
However, it warned that it would stay silent in the face of deliberate lies and character assassination.
“We will not sit idly by while individuals fabricate lies, spread malicious claims or engage in character assassination under the banner of political commentary,” the statement concluded.
