Wike and Obasanjo Attend PDP NEC Meeting in Abuja
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction loyal to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike convened its 109th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Wednesday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
Chaired by Abdulrahman Mohammed, the gathering included National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, members of the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees Chairman Mao Ohabunwa and other senior party leaders.
A key item on the agenda was the presentation of Certificates of Return to candidates who emerged from the party’s primaries ahead of the 2027 general election.
Rival Faction Holds Parallel Meeting
Meanwhile, a rival PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki held its own NEC meeting at a different venue, the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
Turaki presented Certificates of Return to his faction’s candidates and urged them to sign an undertaking pledging not to defect from the PDP after winning any election.
Both meetings underscore the ongoing internal dynamics within the PDP as it prepares for the forthcoming electoral cycle.
