Aisha Yesufu Says She Pleaded with Kwankwaso to Be Peter Obi’s Running Mate
A member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, disclosed that she begged former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to become Peter Obi’s running mate four years ago. She made the revelation in a post on 𝕏 on Wednesday while reaffirming her support for the emerging Obi‑Kwankwaso ticket.
Yesufu noted that some developments take longer than expected but insisted she would not be distracted. She wrote, “Some things in life take longer than they should. Like the saying goes, better late than never. Four years ago I literally begged @KwankwasoRM to be Peter Obi’s running mate. Now that it is happening, you think I am going to be distracted? No way. Let’s get it done.”
Yesufu Challenges DSS Over Sowore’s Prosecution
In related news, Yesufu challenged the Department of State Services (DSS) regarding its role in the prosecution of African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore. The DSS claimed it filed charges against Sowore under the Cybercrimes Act after he allegedly called President Bola Tinubu “this criminal” on social media.
The agency also stated that Sowore’s remand followed normal court proceedings, adding that it neither arrested him nor opposed his bail. Reacting, Yesufu argued that if Tinubu believes Sowore’s statement is false or defamatory, he should seek redress in court rather than involve the DSS.
She criticised the DSS for focusing on this matter while the country faces pressing security challenges.
