Kenneth Okonkwo Calls Peter Obi Classless, Accuses Him of Lying and Targeting Southeastern Rising Stars
African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo has described the 2027 presidential hopeful Peter Obi as a classless, non‑charismatic politician with little legal knowledge and depth.
Speaking about the defamation suit filed by Obi against him, Okonkwo said the former Anambra State governor’s legal team needs to educate him on what constitutes defamation.
He insisted that his remarks about Obi are a matter of public record and therefore cannot be defamatory.
Okonkwo further claimed that Obi is a compulsive liar who seeks to undermine every emerging leader from the South‑East, echoing Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo’s remark that Obi lies “like a fish that drinks water.”
Quoting Okonkwo: “Peter Obi is a classless, non‑charismatic politician with little knowledge and zero depth. Look at the lie he just told. A defamation suit is filed for statements already made, not for what someone intends to say. Yet Obi wants to sue me for what he claims I plan to say, even though the suit was initiated before I spoke.”
He continued: “What I posted on X is exactly what I said: ‘It’s unwise for you to sue your spokesperson because in defending himself he may reveal confidential information.’ I never said it would destroy him. The process began with a pre‑action notice, not a court filing, and the court is merely being used to obtain the relief already requested in that notice.”
“So we have a man aspiring to the presidency who is lying both legally and factually. My comments are on Instagram for anyone to verify. Defamation law applies to spoken or published words, not to future statements, which is why his claim is false. If he truly believed I defamed him, why didn’t he sue me for what I actually said?”
Okonkwo added: “Just yesterday the Minister of Aviation said Obi lies like a fish drinks water. Has Obi sued him? When Arabambi spoke he said Obi has no face, yet no lawsuit followed. I agree with the minister – Obi has shown little legal understanding and has openly lied against me. His lawyers should educate him.”
