Popular businessman Isaac Fayose has made a startling claim, stating that his elder brother and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, was instrumental in helping Seyi Makinde win the 2019 Oyo State governorship election.
Details of the Alleged Political Influence
Isaac Fayose said he was directly involved in the discussions that led to Makinde’s emergence as governor. He recalled specific events, including a meeting at his resort on Ring Road, Ibadan, where a cow was slaughtered while plotting Makinde’s political rise.
He also mentioned the presence of Victor Enahoro, son of the late Anthony Enahoro, at the gathering that sealed Makinde’s candidacy.
Call for an Apology
Isaac Fayose urged Governor Makinde to apologise to his brother, arguing that Ayodele Fayose feels neglected after having placed Makinde in office.
“I understand Fayose’s anger. Because he put you there and now you neglected him, he wants to take Ole Osa back,” Isaac said, adding that he will stand with his brother in the ongoing political dispute.
Political Warning to Makinde
The claim comes shortly after Ayodele Fayose vowed to teach Governor Makinde a political lesson, accusing him of dismantling the Southwest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure and taking over Fayose’s political network.
Isaac warned that Makinde should not take the Fayose family for granted, stating that respect would earn their full support, while disrespect would invite the full force of Fayose’s political influence.
He concluded by noting that although Makinde has the right to contest for president, betraying trust in politics will have consequences, especially with future elections on the horizon.
