Desmond Elliot on Tinubu’s Possible Successor
Desmond Elliot, member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for Surulere Constituency I, said he does not currently see any political figure ready to take over from President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking with Morayo Afolabi, the actor‑turned‑lawmaker shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s political future, potential leadership changes, governance challenges, and his years in public office.
Elliot stressed that the country has yet to produce a visible candidate capable of stepping into Tinubu’s position, adding that, from his perspective, no clear successor has emerged.
He remarked, “I’m wondering who the next savior might be to take Asiwaju’s place; I simply cannot see that person yet.” He urged Nigerians to define their own style of democracy, proposing a 30‑year national plan as an example.
Elliot reminded listeners that life is temporary, that holding office is not a mark of superiority, and that there are always individuals more capable than oneself.
He concluded by noting the transformation of Surulere over the past ten years, observing that electricity supply there now ranks among the best in the country.
