A father disclosed that a routine phone call from his daughter’s school revealed that a portion of the tuition money he had provided was allegedly misappropriated, resulting in an unpaid balance shortly before exams.
He stated that his wife told him the required school fee amounted to 180,000 naira.
He explained that he promptly sent the full sum to her, as she intended to settle the payment during her commute and subsequently forwarded him a document that resembled an official receipt displaying the school’s emblem.
Approximately three weeks later, the school notified him that his daughter had been sent home due to an outstanding balance, and the bursar requested that he submit the receipt for verification.
School Investigation Reveals Possible Fraud
He noted that the school later informed him the receipt was counterfeit and that no matching transaction appeared in their records.
He remarked, “I intended to replenish the funds before you discovered the shortage.”
He added that his wife subsequently confessed to having spent 110,000 naira of the amount, presenting him with several identical fabric pieces and saying, “It was for our women’s August meeting attire; I didn’t want to be the only one without it.”
Father Decides to Pay Tuition Directly
He explained that the incident shifted his viewpoint, emphasizing that the problem extended beyond the missing funds to what had been prioritized above their daughter’s education.
He stated that moving forward he would remit tuition directly to the institution and demanded the return of the 110,000 naira, noting that despite his wife labeling him a “wicked man,” he stood by his decision.
The incident has sparked extensive discussion online, with numerous social media users debating marital financial trust and the significance of prioritizing children’s education.
