Carlos Queiroz Warns Ghana: Real World Cup Challenge Begins Against Colombia
Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has told his squad that the real test of the 2026 FIFA World Cup starts when they meet Colombia in the Round of 32. He described the group stage as merely a warm‑up and qualification as a “credit card” that now must be paid off.
Colombia entered the knockout stage unbeaten after topping Group K, earning top spot with a goalless draw against Portugal in their final group match. That result set up the highly anticipated clash with the Black Stars.
Queiroz stressed that knockout football demands a completely different mindset, warning that every game from this point onward is drama‑filled and there is nowhere to hide. He urged his players to be ready for a stern examination against the South American side.
The match between Ghana and Colombia will take place at Kansas City Stadium on Sunday, 5 July, with the winner advancing to the last 16 of the tournament.
