The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, revealed that he recently met with the Deputy National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction aligned with Kabiru Turaki, Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu.
Focus on National Unity
In a statement posted on his 𝕏 account on Friday, Yilwatda said the discussion centred on the need for national unity and the future direction of Nigeria. He stressed that, although the two parties hold different political views, both leaders agreed that peace, stability, and progress for the country must remain a common priority.

The APC chairman added that he intends to continue engaging with other opposition leaders to foster a stronger, more united, and prosperous Nigeria.
PDP Leadership Developments
The statement also noted a separate update from a PDP faction, which claimed to have submitted former President Goodluck Jonathan’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. The faction says this move comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the party.
According to the Interim National Working Committee’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, INEC acknowledged receipt of the documents, even though the faction alleges it was denied access to electronic submission codes. Ememobong argued that the group represents the authentic PDP leadership, citing a Supreme Court judgment that left the party without a legally recognised national executive.
He explained that the situation prompted the Party’s Board of Trustees and a National Executive Committee meeting, convened by members’ requisition, to establish an interim leadership structure.
