APC Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda Holds Cordial Talks with PDP Deputy Women Leader Hamsatu Adamu on National Unity
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, announced a recent meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Women Leader of the PDP faction aligned with Kabiru Turaki.
Sharing the update on his 𝕏 account on Friday, Yilwatda said their discussion centred on national unity and Nigeria’s future.
He stressed that, despite political differences, both leaders agreed that peace, stability and progress for Nigeria must remain a shared priority.
Yilwatda wrote, “I had a cordial meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, Deputy National Woman Leader in the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki‑led PDP National Working Committee. Our discussions centred on the need for national unity and the future of Nigeria. We agreed that, beyond political differences, the peace, stability and progress of our nation must remain our shared priority.”
The APC Chairman also hinted at further engagements with other opposition leaders, reiterating his commitment to work with all patriotic Nigerians toward a stronger, more united and prosperous nation.
In related news, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party said it had submitted former President Goodluck Jonathan’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, amid the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the Interim National Working Committee’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said INEC had acknowledged receipt of the documents, even though the faction claimed it was denied access to electronic submission codes.
Ememobong maintained that this faction represents the authentic PDP leadership, citing a Supreme Court ruling that left the party without a legally recognised national executive, prompting the Board of Trustees and a requisitioned National Executive Committee meeting to establish an interim structure.
