Yul Edochie Recalls Last Conversation With Late Son Kambilichukwu
Nollywood star Yul Edochie has opened up about the final moments he spent with his first son, Kambilichukwu Edochie, before the boy’s untimely death in 2023.
He recalled that on the morning of the tragedy, Kambilichukwu came into his room before heading to school. The two shared a light‑hearted exchange about the teenager’s rapid growth; the boy had become so tall that he was nearly eye‑to‑eye with his father.
Kambilichukwu proudly told his dad that only one classmate stood taller than him, prompting both to laugh. After their brief chat, the son left for school, unaware that it would be their last conversation.
Just a few hours later, Edochie received an urgent call summoning him to the hospital. He rushed there, not knowing what had happened, only to find his son lying lifeless.
The actor described how quickly the day shifted from a joyful morning at home to a heartbreaking scene at the hospital. He said the memory of their jovial talk about height remains vivid, precisely because nothing in that exchange hinted at the tragedy that would follow.
“That was my first son,” Edochie said. “He came into my room before school, we joked about his height because he was almost as tall as me. He mentioned that only one boy in his class was taller than him, we laughed, and then he left. About three hours later they called me, I went to the hospital and saw him dead.”
