Wike Says INEC Provided Access Codes to His PDP Faction
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, announced that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has allocated access codes for uploading candidates to his faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on the matter, Wike accused the PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki of deceiving Nigerians, stating that the Turaki group does not possess the necessary INEC credentials to submit candidate names for the forthcoming polls.
According to the minister, INEC only distributes access codes to legally recognised political parties, and the electoral body has already handed those codes to the Wike‑aligned PDP faction, which is now in the process of uploading its prospective candidates.
Wike further claimed that the Turaki faction has collected money from various aspirants but is merely waiting for the outcome of ongoing court cases to determine whether it can actually contest the 2027 elections.
“This thing Turaki is doing — he has taken money from people, but it will backfire. INEC has given access codes to recognised parties. Have they given him an access code? So which candidates is he selling forms to? We have received the code, and we are already uploading our candidates,” he declared.
