VP Shettima hints at Bindow’s possible APC return
The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, has indicated that former Adamawa State Governor Senator Muhammad Jibrilla Bindow may be set to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shettima made the remark following a meeting with Bindow on Thursday, where they discussed politics, security, governance and other matters of mutual interest.
In a statement, Shettima wrote, “BINDOW IS COMING! I had fruitful discussions today in my office with my friend, brother and contemporary, Sen. Bindo Umaru Jibrilla, former Governor of Adamawa State, on politics, security, governance and issues of common interest.”
Bindow had previously announced his exit from the APC in a letter dated January 20, 2023, stating that his supporters across the state would follow him in leaving the party to build a harmonious Adamawa.
He cited a lack of genuine reconciliation among party stakeholders as the reason for his departure.
After leaving the APC, Bindow joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and later withdrew from the 2027 Adamawa governorship race under the ADC banner, citing personal reasons after deep reflection and careful consideration.
Despite his withdrawal, he reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC’s ideals and pledged to work for the party’s growth in Adamawa State and nationwide.
However, the latest comments from the Vice President suggest that Bindow may be reconsidering his stance and could rejoin the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
