Vinícius Júnior Returns to Real Madrid as Contract Talks Enter Critical Phase

Vinícius Júnior Returns to Training

Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior reported back to the Valdebebas training complex on Monday after his post‑2026 World Cup break. The Brazil international is expected to undergo routine medical tests before joining his first session under new head straight into medical checks ahead of his first training session under manager José Mourinho.

Contract Talks at a Defining Stage

The winger’s current contract has just 12 months remaining, and negotiations for a new deal have dragged on for more than a year without resolution. Spanish media suggest this week could be decisive in determining whether Vinícius commits his future to the Santiago Bernabéu or explores other options.

Arsenal Monitoring the Situation

Premier League champions Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on the developments. The Gunners are said to be prepared to act should an opportunity arise to sign the Brazilian star.

Other Squad Movements

Vinícius arrived alongside new signing Bernardo Silva, who joined on a free transfer after his Manchester City contract expired. Brahim Díaz also returned for pre‑season as Mourinho begins preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Real Madrid have bolstered their roster this summer with the arrivals of Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté and Carlos Espi. Interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, valued above £100 million, has reportedly stalled, while pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Rodri remains active.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are nearing a deal to bring in Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimarães for around £80 million. The midfielder is expected to undergo a medical before finalising the transfer, having missed Newcastle’s pre‑season return in Spain.
