Tyson Fury Confirms Dublin Return on August 1
Tyson Fury, the former WBC heavyweight champion, revealed on Instagram that he will step back into the ring on August 1 in Dublin, Ireland. The 36‑year‑old posted a training video from his camp in Thailand, captioning it “Let’s go August 1, Dublin, Ireland.”
Building Toward a Joshua Showdown
The Dublin bout is part of Fury’s preparation for a much‑anticipated heavyweight encounter with Anthony Joshua later this year. Joshua is also scheduled for a warm‑up fight, facing Albanian boxer Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25. Both contests are seen as stepping stones toward a potential blockbuster showdown between the two British rivals.
Event Details and Recent Form
The August 1 card in Dublin was already set before Fury’s involvement was made public, with Pierce O’Leary slated to meet Mark Chamberlain on the same night. Fury is now expected to headline the event.
Fury’s most recent outing came on April 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he defeated Russia’s Arslanbek Makhmudov by points. Makhmudov lasted the full 12 rounds, but Fury dominated throughout, earning scorecards of 120‑108, 120‑108 and 119‑109.
Promoter Frank Warren expressed confidence in Fury’s return and the direction of the heavyweight division, noting that confirming an opponent for the Dublin fight remains the immediate priority before attention turns fully to the Joshua negotiations.
