Senator Wadada Defends Tinubu Administration, Calls Critics Ignorant or Enemies
Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, defended President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that only an ignorant person or an open enemy would wish it away.
He pointed to available economic indicators showing significant improvements since Tinubu assumed office, acknowledging that more work is needed but stressing that visible progress across key sectors cannot be ignored.
“But for anybody to sit down and wish away this administration, then that person is either ignorant, or not realistic, or an open enemy, because opposition is different from being an enemy,” he said.
Wadada cited improvements in Nigeria’s balance of payments, balance of trade, foreign reserves, exchange rate stability, and the capital market as evidence that the administration’s economic reforms are yielding positive results.
He noted that foreign reserves have risen from below $30 billion at the start of Tinubu’s term to about $56–$57 billion, and the unification of foreign exchange windows has contributed to greater naira stability.
The senator also highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects nationwide and growth in the Nigerian capital market as further signs of economic advancement.
While acknowledging the gains, Wadada admitted that challenges remain, saying, “There are glaring improvements, developments and growth in every sector, but that is not to say all is well. Much more needs to be done.”
He commended the Tinubu administration for signing the Electricity Act, which creates opportunities for states to generate electricity by leveraging their comparative advantages.
Wadada added that Nasarawa has emerged as a major player in Nigeria’s solid minerals sector, hosting the country’s first and second lithium processing plants.
