Sarah Martins Explains Why She Chooses Charity Over Tithe
Nollywood actress and content creator Sarah Martins has opened up about her decision to stop paying tithe, saying she prefers to direct those funds toward feeding, supporting and empowering people who are struggling.
She shared her views during an interview with Nolly TV while discussing her charitable work and her belief that helping those in need is her personal way of fulfilling what many consider tithing.
According to Martins, the money is better spent assisting individuals who have no one else to rely on, and she views the support she provides as her own form of paying tithe.
The actress also spoke about the joy she derives from helping others, describing herself as a conduit for the blessings she receives, passing them on to those around her.
She noted that many people on the streets look up to her because of the assistance she offers, and she believes sharing her resources allows more people to experience God’s blessings.
Martins said:
“Instead of enriching billionaire pastors, I would rather use that money to empower people who do not know where their help comes from. I do not pay tithe; what I do is my way of paying tithe.”
She continued:
“To the streets, I am the God they see. As God blesses me, I transfer that blessing to them so it can go round.”
She illustrated her point with a simple example, noting that the amount she would have given as tithe could buy two bags of rice, which she prepares herself and distributes to those in need.
