Salihu Lukman Sets Condition for Return to ADC
Former African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Salihu Lukman said he is ready to rejoin the party if it helps unite its leaders to present a credible candidate capable of earning Nigerians’ trust, regardless of party affiliation.
Lukman explained that he suspended his membership out of frustration with the party’s direction.
He stressed that overcoming Nigeria’s challenges requires unity among ADC leaders, insisting that the nation’s interests must supersede party loyalty.
“I suspended my ADC membership out of frustration. I am not speaking as an ADC member because Nigeria faces a serious challenge,” he said. “Partisan politics will not get us out of this situation. I am prepared to retain my ADC membership if it helps bring all the party’s leaders together, because Nigeria is bigger than the ADC.”
Lukman also urged the opposition to intensify its efforts if it hopes to unseat the ruling party, while expressing disappointment with the current state of the opposition.
He warned that the opposition risks repeating the mistakes of the 2023 elections unless it addresses the personal ambitions of its leaders and prioritises the country’s destiny.
