Lukman Sets Condition for Return to ADC
Former African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Salihu Lukman revealed that he suspended his membership out of frustration but is prepared to rejoin if the party’s leaders unite to present a credible candidate capable of winning Nigerians’ confidence. He stressed that national interests must outweigh party loyalty.
Lukman’s Quote on Party Unity
“I suspended my ADC membership out of frustration. I am not speaking as an ADC member because Nigeria is facing a serious challenge. Partisan politics will not get us out of the situation we are in. I am prepared to retain my ADC membership if it helps bring all the party’s leaders together, because Nigeria is bigger than the ADC.”
Call for Opposition Improvement
Lukman urged opposition parties to step up their game if they aim to unseat the ruling administration. He warned that they risk repeating the mistakes of the 2023 elections despite judicial processes and emphasised the need to curb personal ambitions among opposition leaders so that the country’s destiny is prioritised.
