Salihu Lukman Signals Willingness to Rejoin ADC Under Unity Condition
Former African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader Salihu Lukman said he is prepared to resume his membership in the party if doing so helps unite its leaders behind a credible candidate capable of earning Nigerians’ trust.
Lukman explained that he had suspended his ADC membership out of frustration with the party’s direction, stressing that his current remarks are made not as a party member but as a concerned Nigerian.
He warned that partisan politics alone cannot resolve the nation’s pressing challenges, adding that he would retain his ADC membership only if it serves to bring together all party leaders for the sake of the country, which he regards as larger than the ADC itself.
The former chieftain also urged the opposition to improve its performance if it hopes to unseat the ruling party. While he wants to see the incumbent administration defeated, he expressed disappointment with the current state of the opposition.
Lukman cautioned that opposition leaders risk repeating the errors of the 2023 elections unless they set aside personal ambitions and prioritize the nation’s destiny.
