Salihu Lukman Ready to Rejoin ADC if Party Unites Behind Credible Candidate
Former ADC chieftain Salihu Lukman said he is prepared to rejoin the party if it leads to a united effort to present a credible candidate capable of earning Nigerians’ trust, regardless of party affiliation.
He explained that he suspended his membership due to frustration, stressing that Nigeria’s challenges transcend partisan politics.
Lukman emphasized that ADC leaders must unite to address the nation’s problems, asserting that the country’s interests outweigh party loyalty.
He stated, “I suspended my ADC membership out of frustration. I am not speaking as an ADC member because Nigeria faces a serious challenge. Partisan politics will not get us out of this situation. I am ready to retain my ADC membership if it helps bring all the party’s leaders together, because Nigeria is bigger than the ADC.”
He also urged the opposition to improve its performance if it hopes to unseat the ruling party, expressing his wish to see the current administration defeated but criticizing the opposition’s current state.
Lukman warned that the opposition risks repeating the mistakes of the 2023 elections despite ongoing judicial processes, and called for personal ambitions of opposition leaders to be set aside in favor of the nation’s destiny.
