Salihu Lukman Ready to Rejoin ADC If It Unites Leaders for a Credible National Candidate
Former ADC chieftain Salihu Lukman said he is prepared to rejoin the party provided it leads to a united effort to present a credible candidate capable of earning Nigerians’ trust, regardless of party affiliation.
He explained that he had suspended his membership out of frustration with the party’s direction.
Lukman stressed that ADC leaders must unite to address the nation’s challenges, emphasizing that the country’s interests should outweigh partisan concerns.
He stated, “I suspended my ADC membership out of frustration. I am not speaking as an ADC member because Nigeria is facing a serious challenge. Partisan politics will not get us out of the situation we are in. I am prepared to retain my ADC membership if it helps bring all the party’s leaders together, because Nigeria is bigger than the ADC.”
Turning to the opposition, Lukman urged them to improve their performance if they hope to unseat the ruling party.
While he desires to see the incumbent administration defeated, he expressed disappointment with the current state of the opposition.
He warned that opposition leaders risk repeating the mistakes of the 2023 elections, even after judicial rulings, unless they set aside personal ambitions.
Lukman called for opposition figures to prioritize the nation’s destiny over individual aspirations.
