Osun APC Calls for Immediate Sacking of SSG
The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to dismiss Secretary to the State Government Teslim Igbalaiye. The demand follows the arrest of a wanted murder suspect at Igbalaiye’s residence in Osogbo.
Speaking to journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, Remi Omowaiye, head of media and publicity for the APC campaign council, accused the Adeleke administration of trying to interfere with the ongoing investigation. He warned that any attempt to shield individuals linked to criminal activity would undermine the rule of law.
Omowaiye said, “No government that genuinely seeks peace and security should be seen attempting to obstruct lawful investigations or shield any individual from accountability. If Governor Adeleke is not an enabler of criminality, he should immediately sack Alhaji Teslim Igbalaiye, in whose home a wanted murderer was arrested yesterday.”
He further urged the governor to rise above political pettiness, cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies, and allow the investigative process to proceed without hindrance.
Government Response Defends the SSG
In reaction, Jamiu Olawumi, Director of Strategic Communication for the Imole Campaign Council, dismissed the APC’s call as politically motivated. He described the allegations as an effort to damage the reputation of the SSG.
Olawumi stated, “Governance is about people, service and responsibility. As a governor, even when people propose an idea that does not make sense to the needs of the state, comments are free, but the facts remain sacred.” He emphasized that Governor Adeleke knows the quality of his Secretary to the State Government, a lawyer and a patriotic son of Osogbo.
He added that the criticism originates from individuals who cannot match Igbalaiye’s record and political standing, and therefore resent excellence in service delivery.
Recall that Igbalaiye was arrested by police operatives on Wednesday during a raid on his Osogbo residence. He was released the following day, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the arrest continue.
