Rudeboy Declares Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy Now Leading Afrobeats
Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, widely known as Rudeboy from the former P‑Square duo, has affirmed that he maintains a good relationship with Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. He stressed that every generation gets its moment at the pinnacle of the industry.
Speaking on Yanga FM, Rudeboy said he harbours no ill will toward the current crop of music stars and believes fans should accept that no artiste can remain at the peak forever.
According to him, it is now the turn of Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy to steer the Afrobeats scene, just as P‑Square once enjoyed its own era of dominance.
He added that after this generation, another set of artistes will rise to take over, describing the progression as a natural cycle within the music business.
Rudeboy explained that while no act can stay at the top indefinitely, every successful musician can leave a lasting legacy through their achievements and contributions to music.
“I have a good relationship with Wizkid, Davido and Burna. It’s their turn to be top, our turn don pass. Nobody is going to be there forever. People should respect that. After that, there’s still going to be another set of artistes. You can’t be there forever, but you can still put your legacy,” he said.
He further noted that he does not understand why people argue over Afrobeats, adding that upcoming artistes should recognise that earlier acts also made their mark.
