Amaechi Prioritises Rule of Law Over Food Handouts
Rotimi Amaechi, a senior figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Transportation, declared that his foremost action as president would be to enforce the rule of law across Nigeria.
Criticism of APC’s Institutional Influence
Amaechi accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of allegedly manipulating government institutions to undermine opposition parties. He questioned why a party that claims strength would resort to such tactics instead of allowing fair competition.
Food Handouts Do Not Solve Hunger
The former Rivers State governor also criticised President Bola Tinubu’s strategy of distributing food items during elections, stating that a single bag of rice cannot address year‑long hunger. He argued that such handouts are merely short‑term ploys to sway voters.
Amaechi warned that Nigerians might accept election‑day gifts but would still vote against the APC if the underlying issues of lawlessness and hunger remain unaddressed.
