A Nigerian resident has voiced strong frustration over the continual increase in cooking gas and food prices, describing the situation as unbearable for everyday citizens trying to cope with the current economic strain.
He shared his worries in a widely circulated video on social media, noting that prices seem to shift within just a few hours.
Shortly after checking the cost of cooking gas, he returned to find the price had already risen again.
His remarks have struck a chord with many Nigerians experiencing similar pressures from inflation and escalating living expenses across the nation.
Man Speaks Out on Repeated Gas Price Increases
Speaking in Pidgin English, the visibly upset man questioned why essential goods keep climbing in price almost daily, even as members of the public voice their complaints.
He exclaimed: “No be yesterday I go market go complain of foodstuff? Na every minute things dey increase. Last three hours gas was N1450 per kg. I wan buy now dem say they just call them now say gas don increase to N1550. By tomorrow e fit don enter N1600.”
Public Reaction to Mounting Economic Pressure
The man also objected to calls for citizens to stay silent amid the rising cost of living, arguing that numerous families are finding it difficult to meet basic necessities.
He added: “And they say make we no shout, make we no talk,”
The video has sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians recounting similar experiences regarding the climbing costs of cooking gas, transportation, and food items.
A comparable outcry took place in 2024 when protesters denounced successive increases in fuel and household goods prices after the implementation of economic reforms.
