Popular Nigerian TikTok star Peller shared that his imperfect English played a major role in his rapid rise to fame on the platform.
During a recent live stream, he admitted he once thought improving his English would enhance his image.
Instead, he found that doing so actually cut down the audience that had made him popular.
Looking back at his early TikTok days, Peller noted that although his English wasn’t polished, it resonated with viewers and drew thousands to his live sessions.

He said, “I heard proper English before, but what happened is that I started TikTok with my rough English. Although it wasn’t professional, it wasn’t terrible either.”
He added, “I realized that to blow up in life you can’t be dull; you have to be a bit crazy. Because of my imperfect English, thousands flooded my live streams—2,000 views, 3,000.”
According to him, his attempt to practice more polished English backfired, causing his viewer numbers to plummet dramatically.
He further remarked, “When I speak better English, I only get about five views, mostly from family. But I prefer it this way—let my English stay rough so I keep earning.”
