The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced Oladipupo Adebutu as its consensus governorship candidate for Ogun State ahead of the 2027 general election.

Party members from the state’s 236 wards participated in an affirmation process that resulted in Adebutu emerging as the unanimous choice. The exercise was overseen by the Ogun State PDP Governorship Primary Panel, chaired by Afolabi Ariyo.

Afolabi Ariyo declared the outcome via a voice vote, stating, “I, Afolabi Ariyo, Chairman of the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Primary Panel, hereby declare that Hon. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu is the winner and is returned as the consensus candidate.”

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose attended the primary and congratulated Adebutu, noting the strong turnout reflected the party’s readiness to contest vigorously in 2027. He added that Adebutu’s political future is now firmly tied to the governorship seat, saying he cannot aspire to any other office after today.
