Osifo Reacts to APC Presidential Primary Outcome
Stanley Osifo, one of the contenders for the All Progressives Congress presidential ticket, said he is not satisfied with the result of the party’s presidential primary.
President Bola Tinubu secured the nomination with 10,999,162 votes, while Osifo received only 16,503 votes.
Speaking to journalists after the collation at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, Osifo stated, “I’m not okay with the outcome of the results. And I’m working with the party, I’m working with the candidate of the party as well. I have no problem with it.”
He emphasized that his participation was not a personal challenge against Tinubu but part of the APC’s internal democratic process.
Osifo added, “We are one party, we are members of the All Progressives Congress, we are one family. So we are not challenging ourselves. What we did was to have within ourselves who would become the candidate of the party.”
Responding to Tinubu’s post‑victory olive branch, Osifo said the sentiment was mutual and stressed that no candidate can succeed alone.
“Even if I had become the candidate today, I cannot work alone. I need a team. So offering an olive branch is something that everybody would want to support the president for,” he said.
Osifo, who bought the APC nomination form for ₦100 million after a planned consensus fell through, noted his political future remains open and thanked his supporters across the 36 states and the FCT.
He said, “My supporters that voted for me, including those clapping for me, I want to deeply express my gratitude to them. We have coordinators in all the states, local governments and wards. They have done marvellously well.”
Despite recording zero votes in several states, including the FCT, Delta, Kogi, Ebonyi and Jigawa, Osifo affirmed he will stay in the APC and work with Tinubu and other leaders toward the 2027 general elections.
