PDP Guber Aspirant Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh Denounces Pantami’s Candidacy as Injustice, Promises Legal Action
PDP governorship aspirant Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh has denounced the emergence of former Communications Minister Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Gombe State, labeling the process unjust.
Pantami, who left the APC after criticizing its candidate selection, was declared the PDP’s nominee via a voice affirmation during a primary election held on Tuesday, ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial contest.
Speaking to journalists at his Gombe residence, Saleh said the primary, originally set for Sunday, was postponed without clear explanation, and he was shocked to learn Pantami had been chosen.
He urged his supporters to stay calm and law‑abiding, adding that his legal team is preparing to contest the outcome through appropriate legal channels.
Saleh was quoted as saying, “While we waited for the primary to hold last Sunday, it was abruptly moved to Tuesday. Without any justification from the party leadership, we awoke to the news that Isa Pantami had emerged as the PDP governorship candidate. I condemn this as an injustice against me and fellow aspirants. My lawyers are already acting, and we will seek redress through the proper courts.”
