Osun Governor Adeleke and Accord Party Back Tinubu for 2027 Election
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, together with the national leadership of the Accord Party (AP), has announced the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
The endorsement came after a meeting held on Saturday night in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, between Governor Adeleke and the party’s top officials.
Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesman for the Adeleke re‑election campaign, disclosed the outcome in a statement, noting that the discussion centred on party affairs and preparations for upcoming polls.
The Accord leadership urged the Tinubu administration to complete major infrastructure projects already underway nationwide, specifically citing the Lagos‑Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto‑Badagry Highway as priorities.
According to the party, finishing these projects is essential to ensure that ongoing federal investments yield their intended benefits for Nigerians.
The meeting also addressed the forthcoming August governorship election in Osun State. Accord leaders warned against any form of violence, intimidation, or electoral manipulation during the poll.
They further cautioned against the alleged use of security agencies to harass or intimidate party members and supporters in the state, calling for a peaceful process where all parties can compete freely.
The leadership appealed for a credible and peaceful electoral environment that allows all political parties and candidates to contest on a level playing field.
Present at the gathering were Accord National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem, Deputy National Chairman Maryam Sale, National Secretary Ajaja Abiola Adebukola, and National Treasurer Abdulazeez Oyeniyi Salaudeen.
Additional attendees included National Organising Secretary Ibe Thankgod and National Publicity Secretary Omorogbe Joseph, along with Accord state chairmen from across the country.
