Nyesom Wike Denies Money Demands in Dispute with Rivers Gov Sim Fubara
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied allegations that his disagreement with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara stems from a demand for money.
He described such claims as a typical reaction in politics when leaders differ on issues.
When asked directly whether he had sought money from Fubara, Wike dismissed the accusation and questioned why he would need financial assistance from the Rivers governor.
He said, “Forget about people who say you were asking him for money. You know one thing in politics is that the moment you disagree on an issue, the only thing you can use to get the support of the people is that they are asking me for money.”
The former governor added that his priority is for Fubara to stabilize Rivers State and build upon the foundations established during his tenure.
“My thinking is that we need to compete with Lagos. We have laid the foundation; he should be able to continue from there; we will give you all the necessary support,” Wike noted.
