The TikTok Connection
A Nigerian woman has opened up about a troubling encounter with a man she met on TikTok, saying he expelled her from his apartment late at night after she declined his sexual advances.
Journey to Osogbo
She explained that their connection started on the platform in February, quickly turning into a romance. The man never requested financial help and even gifted her 500 MB of data when she mentioned she could not afford to stay online.
A few days before her birthday, tensions rose after she gave him a casual greeting. He insisted she travel to Osogbo to reconcile, despite having previously said he resided in Lagos.
Unwanted Advances and Midnight Eviction
Upon arrival, she discovered the situation was far from what she had expected.
“I paid for my transport to Osogbo. When the bus needed one more passenger to depart, he demanded I cover the cost, which I did. Upon reaching the city, I felt let down; he bore little resemblance to the person I had imagined.”
Shortly after settling in, the man repeatedly made unwanted sexual gestures, all of which she refused.
She described the room as messy and said she had to purchase drinks and biscuits because she was not interested in the cold food he offered.
“He kept touching me, but I told him I wasn’t interested. At 12:26 a.m., he gathered my belongings, escorted me outside and warned that if I would not sleep with him, I should leave,” she recounted.
Online Reaction
The incident sparked a variety of reactions across social media, with many Nigerians debating the risks of forming relationships through online platforms.
