NDC Forms 20-Member Committee to Screen Governorship and NASS Aspirants Ahead of Primaries
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated a 20‑member National Selection Committee to vet governorship and National Assembly aspirants before the party’s primaries.
The decision, endorsed by the party’s National Leader on the advice of the NWC, forms part of intensified preparations for the upcoming selection exercise.
The committee’s mandate is to promote transparency, internal democracy and credible candidate selection. It will be formally inaugurated on Monday, 25 May 2026 and will convene its first meeting immediately afterwards.
The panel will examine the reports produced by the National Screening Committee and deliver final rulings on the eligibility of all aspirants wishing to run on the NDC ticket.
National Chairman Moses Zuwoghe will chair the committee, with Barrister Ikenna Enekweizu serving as secretary. Other members include Buba Galadima, Yunusa Tanko, Udenta Udenta, Aminu Abdulsalam, Alhaji Mohammed Bakin Zuwo, Shittu Mohammed and additional party figures.
The party statement emphasised that only aspirants cleared by both the National Screening Committee and the National Selection Committee will be allowed to purchase nomination forms. Should consensus fail to emerge, the NDC will hold direct primaries from 28 to 30 May 2026 in line with its guidelines.
The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, credible and inclusive selection process aimed at strengthening party unity and positioning the organisation for electoral success.
