Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a 2027 presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has arrived in Borno State ahead of the party’s presidential primary election.
The businessman and politician made the announcement via a post on his X account (formerly Twitter) on Monday, just before the ADC primaries were set to begin.
In his message, he urged party members to come out and vote, promising a new direction for the country.
“I am live in Borno for the ADC Presidential Primaries. To all our members; my supporters – come out and vote for a new direction. Vote MHD for ADC,” he captioned a video of his arrival posted on his X account.
Direct Primary Adopted After Consensus Rejection
Barring any last-minute changes, the party has settled for the direct primary option. This decision followed the rejection of calls to step down for a consensus candidate by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and former banker Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
Although the party initially considered adopting an affirmation process similar to that used by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), party leaders said the direct primary remains fully consistent with the Electoral Act 2026.
