Lauretta Onochie Endorses Atiku Abubakar as ADC’s Best Hope for 2027 Presidency
Former media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, Lauretta Onochie, has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is the most suitable candidate to lead the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in its forthcoming 2027 presidential primary.
In a statement posted on her 𝕏 handle, Onochie argued that few Nigerian politicians can match Atiku’s pedigree, emphasizing that his background gives ADC the strongest chance to win the 2027 election and govern the country effectively.
She stressed that politics is not a reward for effort or sentiment but a test of preparedness, capacity, national reach, and the ability to win power and govern successfully.
“As ADC prepares for its 2027 Presidential Primary, members must ask one question above all else: Who gives ADC the strongest opportunity to win Nigeria and govern successfully? For many party faithful, the answer is clear: HE. Atiku Abubakar.”

Onochie highlighted that Atiku brings to the table experience, national acceptance, coalition‑building ability, economic understanding, and political resilience — qualities she said very few Nigerian politicians can legitimately claim.
She urged ADC members, if they truly wish to make history and win history, to select a candidate with nationwide scale, proven endurance, and the capacity to turn aspiration into effective governance.
“The Primary is the contest. The General Election is the mission. The Presidency is the destination,” she concluded.
