Manchester City Confirm £116m Elliot Anderson Deal
Manchester City have announced the signing of England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a British‑record fee of £116 million.
The 23‑year‑old becomes the most expensive British player ever, overtaking Jude Bellingham’s £115 million move to Real Madrid in 2023.
Anderson’s fee also tops City’s own transfer list; only Liverpool’s £125 million capture of Alexander Isak and their £116.5 million deal for Florian Wirtz have cost more among Premier League clubs.
While still with England at the FIFA World Cup, Anderson completed his medical in Kansas and has started all four of England’s matches so far.
The club said the formalities will be finished once he returns from the tournament, wishing him and the England squad success.
Anderson featured in every Premier League game for Forest last season, starting 37 matches, scoring four goals, providing four assists and ranking among the top five for tackles and passes.
He is the first signing under new head coach Enzo Maresca, who replaced Pep Guardiola earlier this week.
After England’s World Cup run, Anderson will take a four‑week break before reporting to City, likely missing the Asian pre‑season tour and aiming for a debut in the Community Shield against Arsenal on 16 August.
