Man Returns to Alma Mater, Witnessing 15 Years of Tree Growth

A Nigerian man recently revisited his secondary school. He wanted to check on a tree he planted during his first year. This significant visit occurred over 15 years after its initial planting.

Recalling His School Days

The viral TikTok video detailed the man’s alma mater in Lagos. He clarified that the tree was assigned to him directly. He was a student at the time.

He also mentioned leading a climate change club. This club was founded by former Lagos Governor Raji Fashola. It encouraged environmental awareness among students.

Initially, @FarmerOlufad had different academic plans. He intended to study medicine. However, his path eventually led him to forestry.

The video clearly captures his excitement. He stands proudly next to the now-grown tree. It represents a tangible connection to his past.

A Journey of Purpose and Growth

The man shared his reflections in the video:

“My secondary school days were in 2009. I led the Climate Change Club. Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola founded it. Our goal was simple: plant a tree and win a prize.”

“I did not win any prize then. But I gained something far greater: purpose. Fifteen years later, I visited my old school. My Gmelina arborea tree still stands tall. This proves impact truly outlasts applause.”

“I believed I wanted to study medicine. Yet, God guided me towards forestry. Today, I am grateful for this journey. Visionary leaders sow seeds. Time eventually reveals their true value.”

From secondary school days in 2009. When I headed the Climate Change Club founded by Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, all we wanted was to plant a tree and win a prize. I didn’t win anything then, but I gained something bigger: purpose. 🌍💚 15 years later, I visited my alma mater… and my Gmelina arborea is STILL standing tall. 🌳🔥 Proof that impacts outlives applause. I thought I wanted medicine, but God planted forestry in me. And today, I’m grateful for the journey. Visionary leaders plant seeds, but time reveals their value. #TreeStory #ClimateChangeWarrior #GreenerNigeria #ForestryLife #ClimateActionNow
