Leon Balogun Completes Free Transfer to Hungarian Champions Győri ETO
Former Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has secured a free transfer to Hungarian champions Győri ETO FC, signing a one‑year contract after his deal with Cypriot side Aris Limassol expired.
The 38‑year‑old centre‑back made 22 appearances for Aris last season, scoring twice and providing one assist before moving to Hungary.
Balogun expressed enthusiasm about the move, calling it an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious project.
“I am very happy to be a player of ETO FC, as this is an extremely exciting project,” he told the club’s official website.
He added that the team has shown promise in early matches and that maintaining standards will be key to building on last season’s success.
Balogun brings a wealth of experience from spells in Germany with Hannover, Werder Bremen and Mainz, a Premier League stint at Brighton & Hove Albion, and two successful periods at Rangers where he won the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup.
