Lagos NDC Governorship Candidate Naheem Balogun Reaffirms His Position as Authentic Flag Bearer for 2027
Naheem Balogun, the NDC’s Lagos State governorship aspirant, dismissed claims that another candidate had emerged as the party’s flag bearer for the 2027 election.
He stated that he remains the authentic candidate chosen by party members and urged supporters to stay calm and focused amid rumors and misinformation.
Balogun thanked supporters for their warm reception, noting their turnout gave him encouragement and motivation.
He appealed to party members not to be distracted by reports about the governorship ticket, insisting the mandate given to him remains intact.
He urged supporters to stay united and avoid being discouraged by speculation over the primary election outcome.
“I urge all our supporters not to be distracted by rumours and misinformation. Remain calm, focused and steadfast. The mandate given to us by party members cannot be taken away through speculation and propaganda,” he said.
Balogun also assured supporters he would continue defending their interests and consult widely before making decisions on the party’s political direction in Lagos.
“I will continue to protect the interests of our supporters and the NDC faithful. I will not take any decision affecting our collective future without consulting stakeholders across Lagos State. This project belongs to the people, and together we will determine its direction,” he added.
The candidate expressed appreciation to party members across Lagos LGAs for their sacrifices, loyalty, and continued support.
He said their commitment formed the foundation of the political movement he represents, adding that the support shown on his return reflected grassroots confidence in his candidacy.
Balogun said he would pursue the matter through legitimate party channels while safeguarding his supporters’ interests.
According to him, the NDC must stay focused on presenting a credible alternative to Lagos residents ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The Lagos NDC has recently experienced internal tensions following disagreements over the primary outcome.
Competing claims and allegations over the ticket have raised concerns among members and threatened to deepen divisions ahead of future contests.
Balogun urged members to remain united and avoid actions that could weaken the party’s chances in the state.
He said internal disagreements should be handled with maturity through appropriate party structures.
The reception organized by his supporters highlighted his continued influence within sections of the NDC grassroots in Lagos.
His public show of support is expected to intensify internal discussions as members await clarity on the governorship ticket.
Balogun maintained that the project belongs to the people and said he would continue standing with party members who supported his aspiration from the start.
He urged supporters to remain peaceful, disciplined, and committed while efforts continue to resolve the internal issues surrounding the ticket.
