INEC Lagos Announces Public Display of 2027 Candidates’ Documents
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Lagos State has revealed that it will commence the public exhibition of the personal particulars and credentials of candidates vying for the 2027 presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives elections.
Legal Basis and Display Locations
The exercise follows Section 29 of the Electoral Act 2022, which mandates the transparency of candidate information. The documents will be available for viewing at the INEC Lagos State Office in Sabo‑Yaba and at all respective Local Government Area offices covering the affected constituencies.
What Documents Will Be Shown
INEC explained that the displayed materials will include the candidates’ credentials, personal particulars, and the affidavits submitted by those sponsored by political parties. Specifically, Form EC9 contains these details, and the commission urges political parties, nominated candidates, stakeholders, and members of the general public to review them during the display period.
Public Participation and Legal Recourse
Anyone who suspects that a candidate has submitted false information or forged documents is encouraged to seek legal redress in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act. INEC also called on all interested parties to take advantage of the display exercise to scrutinise the submitted documents thoroughly.
