A Nigerian woman voiced her frustration online after a road supposedly became impassable during Eid festivities, leaving travelers unable to reach their workplaces.
Eyewitness Account
In a clip posted on X (formerly Twitter), she described how traffic came to a complete halt as a large group gathered for Eid prayers on a main thoroughfare, preventing workers and other road users from moving.
She explained that the gridlock persisted for a long time, trapping both private and commercial vehicles.
“We can’t go to work. Nobody can move. Cars are at a standstill, people are just waiting,” she said in the widely shared video.
She questioned why such gatherings were permitted on a busy route, emphasizing that it caused unnecessary hardship for commuters who had no alternative paths.
Public Reaction
While acknowledging the importance of religious observances, she argued that obstructing a major road creates avoidable difficulties for others who also have pressing commitments.
The footage has generated mixed reactions online; some Nigerians backed her concerns about traffic blockage, while others defended the Eid assembly as part of a significant religious observance.
Call for Better Coordination
As the discussion continues, many social media users are urging better coordination between religious organizers and traffic officials to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
