Ex-Delta Speaker Victor Ochei Resigns from APC After Ten Years
Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, has announced his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The resignation was made public on Thursday through a statement issued by his media aide, Austin Edemodu.
Ochei said his decision followed a period of reflection and consultations with close allies.
He recalled joining the APC in 2016 and playing a key role in growing the party’s structure and grassroots presence across Delta State.
“Together with many committed party members, we extended the party’s reach, strengthened its internal structures, mobilised community support, and worked hard to give the APC relevance and visibility in our political environment,” he stated.
The former speaker explained that he stepped down to continue pursuing his political convictions and vision for public service.
“It is in recognition of the need for broader growth and the continuation of my political convictions that I have chosen to chart a new course,” Ochei added.
He stressed that his resignation is not driven by bitterness or resentment toward any individual within the APC.
Ochei urged his supporters and political associates to remain peaceful and uphold democratic principles.
He did not reveal which political platform he intends to join after leaving the APC.
