ADC Chieftain Urges Tinubu to Step Down Before 2027 Election
African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo said President Bola Tinubu should not wait for the 2027 election but resign peacefully and return to his Bourdillon home in Lagos State.
He argued that worsening insecurity across the nation makes it imprudent to proceed with another electoral cycle.
Commenting on the Abuja Federal High Court ruling that overturned the deregistration of ADC, Okonkwo claimed the judgment aims to frustrate the opposition and pave the way for Tinubu’s coronation rather than a genuine election.
He noted that insecurity is a daily reality, citing massacres in Plateau and Benue, beheadings in Oyo State, and argued that preventing loss of life is preferable to dealing with its aftermath.
Okonkwo shared a personal anecdote about a worker whose mother was kidnapped in Kaduna State; when the family could not meet the ransom demand, kidnappers broke two of the woman’s fingers, underscoring the human toll of the crisis.
He concluded that such unreported atrocities reinforce his call for Tinubu to step down and leave office peacefully.
