Kano Governor Announces 2027 Running Mate
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has selected his deputy, Murtala Sule Galadima Garo, as his running mate for the forthcoming 2027 gubernatorial election.
He disclosed the decision on Monday during a strategic meeting with federal political appointees serving under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
In a statement released shortly after the meeting, Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, explained that the choice was informed by Garo’s proven loyalty, dedication, and substantial contributions to the state’s development since the administration assumed office.
The governor remarked, “I have no regrets about appointing Garo as my deputy over the past few months; he has demonstrated that he is the right choice. I want to assure everyone that I have complete confidence in him.”
He also expressed a vote of confidence in the deputy governor, lauding his competence, steadfast commitment, and strong sense of responsibility in advancing the administration’s agenda.
Yusuf urged party leaders, political appointees, and supporters to stay united and focused as the government works to consolidate its achievements while preparing for the 2027 polls.
