Ikeja Electric Announces Leadership Change
Ikeja Electric (IE) has appointed Mrs Ogochukwu Onyelucheya as its Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2026.
Folake Soetan’s Tenure and Transition
The appointment follows the departure of Mrs Folake Soetan, who served as CEO from 2020. Soetan is moving to broader strategic responsibilities across the Sahara Group’s energy businesses.

Kola Adesina, Chairman of Ikeja Electric, praised Soetan for her transformational leadership, describing her as instrumental in turning the company into a more resilient, customer‑focused and performance‑driven organisation.

Soetan said it had been an honour to lead IE and work with a team dedicated to delivering value to customers and communities. She added that she looks forward to supporting Sahara’s Power and Upstream businesses in delivering sustainable, inclusive energy solutions across Africa.
Appointment of Onyelucheya
The Board approved Onyelucheya’s appointment based on her leadership experience, institutional knowledge and strategic vision. Adesina noted she brings a compelling blend of leadership experience, strategic clarity and execution discipline, and expressed confidence in her ability to drive innovation, efficiency and customer‑centric growth.
Onyelucheya’s Background
Onyelucheya is a senior corporate executive with over 20 years of experience in business strategy, financial control and operational growth. She has held senior roles in banking and energy, with expertise in process digitisation, automation, revenue assurance and organisational turnaround. She holds a BSc in Accounting from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, an MSc in Finance and Financial Law from the University of London, and is an alumna of Harvard Business School.
